The CBGB Film has Officially Become a Freak Show

As if getting Snape/the Prince of Nottingham/Hans Gruber to play Hilly Kristal wasn’t weird enough, the CBGB movie has now cast Johnny Galecki from The Big Bang Theory as Andy Warhol associate and Television manager Terry Ork, The Borgias‘ Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith, and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop, according to Variety.

So that’s a few of the big players from the Lower East Side’s early punk days, but obviously we’re going to ask who will play folks like Handsome Dick Manitoba of The Dictators, Richard Hell, and Joey Ramone?

For the last name my money is on the guy who played McLovin on Superbad, because obviously this movie is aiming to make zero sense with its casting, this is the only truly choice that could be made.

Adam Driver from HBO's Girls would be a perfect Joey Ramone. Make is so Hollywood.

Hello there, I would really love to play that part. Still your argument is not valid. Because if casting make's no sense at all, and in such way it would make sense to cast me as Joey Ramone, then I could not be casted for the role. Otherwise, the casting would be making sense in its choices. Confused? :) Ok, now i'm confused. Still, on 2013 you'll be seeing me at the sequence of Kick Ass, and hearing me at How to Train Your Dragon 2. See ya!

Weekend Discussion: Do You Care What Artists Believe?

By J. Edward Keyes, Editor-in-Chief

A few weeks ago, I sat down with Laura Stevenson to talk about her brash, Crazy Horse-inspired new record Wheel. We talked about a lot of things: her strained relationship with her mom, her battles with depression as an adolescent and her teenage love of ska. But one stray comment has generated more chatter than anything else in the entire, several-thousand word interview: the fact that Stevenson suspects the footage of the moon landing was… more »
