eMUSIC AND V2 MAKE SWEET MUSIC TOGETHER ON TOUR WITH THE RAKES --

Sponsorship Promotes ‘Ten New Messages’ Album

NEW YORK and LONDON, Mar. 19, 2007 -- eMusic
announces today that it has united with renowned independent record label V2 Music Group (Bloc Party, Paul Weller, Stereophonics) to co-sponsor art-rock band the Rakes’ biggest ever UK tour running March 19 - 31. eMusic, the world’s largest retailer of independent music and the world’s second largest digital music service after iTunes, will distribute co-branded music download cards at all the concerts, offering a 25-free-track trial of the eMusic subscription service. The cards also will promote the Rakes’ new album Ten New Messages (out today) including an exclusive acoustic version of the hit single “We Danced Together,” currently available on eMusic. Concert-goers will be directed to a special landing page (http://www.emusic.com/the rakes) where they can readily access the music.

Ten New Messages is the critically-appraised second album from London’s most switched-on, keyed-up young band. It is literally ten new messages contained in ten new songs. “We Danced Together” is a huge pop tune already leaping out of radio speakers -- it’s a song about romance in the face of street curfews, debris and flying bullets. Musically for The Rakes, it was about broadening their palette. ‘We’ve not gone avant-garde or experimental or anything,’ the band say. ‘We’ve just got better at our jobs’.

“Our partnership with V2 Music reaffirms the strong relationships we share with the independent labels and how we work together to bring exciting new music to our audience,” said Madeline Milne, General Manager of eMusic Europe. “It’s extremely beneficial to the Rakes as well, who will win new fans and increase their sales through high profile promotion on the eMusic website.”

“We find eMusic to be an excellent service,” said Beth Appleton, Head of New Media and Business Development at V2 Music. “With their absolute commitment to independent music, eMusic offers our independent artists a terrific opportunity to establish a deep connection with an audience that’s passionately interested in the kind of groundbreaking new music that’s emblematic of V2.”

The promotion begins today and will run for the duration of the Rake’s UK tour, reaching more than 22,000 fans. The complete listing of eMusic-sponsored tour dates is as follows:
