A Joke

... in terms of comic potential. I am a pianist and avid listener, and I encountered this recording when my friend made me listen to it with him. We were rolling on the floor laughing, it was worth every penny. Yes, the interpretations are that ridiculous. They lack a complete sense of music, strength in technique, and all the other requirements to play the Chopin etudes. It has become a running joke amongst my fellow pianist, that whenever we hear an aweful performance, we label it with a "Rusnack seal of approval."
Well, here are the complete Chopin etudes. Most of the notes. Just missing the music. Oh, yeah, that. Muffled sound heavy with bass. Really some of the most oddly interpreted Chopin I have ever heard. It's easy to get seasick with the tempo changes. Rubato is one thing, this is truly ridiculous. High schoolish interpretation of romanticism. eMusic has Chiu's etudes; get them instead.
