It's not accurate to accuse the consummately cranky George Carlin of having pet peeves, he says at the outset of this 1999 set, when the world's most influential living comic was at the top of his game: He has major psychotic f—ing hatreds. After popping gaskets over such benign subjects as trendy cigar smokers and our society's excessive fear of germs, Carlin lets loose with a sustained tirade over America's self-righteous emphasis on “the children.” They're overrated, he huffs, hilariously. They're not all cute, and they don't always smell so hot, either (with lots of ‘em giving off that “sour milk and urine combination”). In the long run, says our age's real truth-teller, they're just like people of all ages — a few winners, and a whole lotta losers… Just a little something to send you on your merry way. You have a nice day now, y'hear?
