This is what pop-punk should be

If you like indie rock or punk and you don't own this album then there is something seriously wrong with you (or at least a major issue with your record collection). Don't be embarassed to jump on the Ted Leo bandwagon. This stuff is the reason such a thing ever developed. Think of the Ted Leo you know and love and inject some classic Wedding Present guitar style and simple, yet perfect backing vocals. From start to finish this is a masterpiece. The vocal interplays on 'Citizen of Venus' are worth the price of an entire album. Download this thing NOW!

An astonishing leap from their already realized earlier singles, 8 A.M. All Day finds Chisel branching out further into their mod-rock roots, with overwhemingly favorable results. Their trademark stripped-down production is still evident, but the addition of vocal harmonies on cuts such as “Hip Straights” and “Citizen of Venus” up the pop ante considerably. The musicianship is stronger, too, as evidenced by the morose guitar twang of “The Great Wall of China,” and the instrumentals “Overture” and “Je M’Appelle Zero.” – Brian Raftery
