Some Like it, other don't

For me the remixing of Burnside's grooves on this album were my introduction to his music. Long before I went back up the ladder of time to his more sparse recordings I was grabbed by the lines, hooks and simplicity of how he did the blues.

Blues and Beats

effingNinja

Although many purists will not enjoy the effects introduced to Burnside's Mississippi Hill sound by Beck producer Tom Rothrock, this is still the Blues at its core. A meshing of old-school heart and soul with new-school beats and production brings an experience unlike any other.

Infectious groove with a twist of effects

SelfRisinMojo

If this does not have you bobbing your head, tapping your feet and grinning like carpet scooting dog then check your pulse because you are not alive my friend.Regardless of how it was done, the marriage of RL's gritty electric bluesman with modern effects works.

Cooler than Cool

AlecEiffel

This is a great album. Purist may not like the electro-beat, but it's the sound that counts. Put this on when you're driving into town and tell me I'm wrong!
