Aint No Sunshine

This is the original version and is being sung by Bill Withers of Lean On Me fame. Percy Sledge never even did a cover of this song. I know every song Percy Sledge even recorded and this isn't one of them. Try to find Feed The Flame on the Take Time To Know Her album. Amazing song.

A Young Percy...

...is what you're listening to. This album was probably recorded in the late '50s or early '60's and was originally heard on mono AM radio. You're hearing it now on much more sophisticated equipment.

It doesn't sound like Percy Sledge at all. His voice is like 2 octaves higher! OK, slight exaggeration, but something doesn't sound right. If it's not Percy Sledge - why does the album state that it is?

Even with a hearing loss I can tell these aren't the recordings that made Percy Sledge a hit artist. It Tears Me Up to hear these less-than-stellar renditions. Listen before you buy.

It's not the original! Is it a re-recording, or is it being sung by someone else? Passable.

My Dozen

By Isaac Hayes, eMusic Contributor

These albums were happening along the time that I was happening. I was really into real R&B and I still am. These type of tunes were very truthful — there's an honesty that went with them. Those artists communicated to people, they were about the times and what was going on in our country at the time. You listen to those tunes, you know what was happening at that time. They were great musicians because… more »
