One of the best albums ever!
I have listened to this so many times. This is just some really fun stuff. Highly recommended.

This was the first album I heard of their's and I fell instantly in love. I love the synth all through out the album. A few of the tracks bring me back to Zelda 2 oddly enough.
This album is so fun! Puts me in a great mood every time. I love the simplicity of the "drums and organ" instrumentation, and the vocal harmonizing and tempo are exquisite! I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, but if you're into some great lo-fi indie, this is where its at!
After reading some of the other reviews, I thought I would give this album a try. I really didn't like it after the first listen. After a few more forced attempts, I just had to admit that I found this music annoying. Most of the vocals just seem to have one mode: stacatto and loud. I know some people find their vocals unpolished and refreshing, but I found some songs unlistenable. The organ reminded me too much of pre-programmed Casio songs. Maybe a couple songs might be worth downloading, but I definitely would not recommend purchasing this album.
This band is indie through and through from the innocent and unprofessional singing style to the gleeful abandon that marks some of their faster material. A cheerful optimism and introspection pervades each lyric and note and there's also a sense of foreboding doubt that they keep in check, but have no problem exposing through their sometimes droll delivery, or maybe I just mistook that for something else, but that's what it seems like. A married couple living happily in the world knows that what they have isn't what a lot of other people have and how is that not tear worthy? It is. Every song is interesting, but the song that really caught my atttention upon first listen from front to back was "An Experiment" listen for it, to find out why I feel this way. I wholeheartedly recommend this release to anyone who enjoys indie rock that's just adorable and rambunctious in equal parts.
I heard of Mates of State on a podcast called Illinoise! and I can't stop listening to this CD now that I have it! It really puts me in a better mood!
