One of my all time faves

Heard "what i always wanted' on the radio, went out immediately to buy album; this girl has got more balls in her scream than any guy. One of my fave albums, these girls have grown up since 'Spit', and is heavier than the later 'Until the end'. 'Oracle' is one of my fave songs ever; fast and heavy!

One of my best downloads

MonsterMagnus

It's moments like these I'm looking for. I surf around on emusic.com and suddenly I'm finding THE album that makes me never want to quit my emusic subcribtion beqause I know there are more of them out there. This is a very intresting album with a mixture of brutal and melodic songs and vocals wich I happen to like very much.

better than "until the end"

arjuna

a classical pianist friend introduced me to kittie at just the right time, and the harshness and volatility of this album resonates with every male feminist i ve shared it with. simply put, all woman death metal is no joke. crunchy guitars, growling bass lines and impeccable percussion married with fiery vocals and scathing lyrics bring this album up to be easily compared to pantera's, probot's and sepultura's best efforts (as far as rocking, at least). I would recommend this album to anyone interested in seeing what all the fuss is about, and would discourage "until the end" as it is much more poppy, much less heartfelt and is generally just useless. i hope their others are as good as this.

Why Oracle? Why not In Winter?

Exodus

I like Kittie. The type of band is unique and fresh, just look at the name. But in my opinion, Oracle is not thier best song. As a fellow underground rocker, i usually like naming my albums after one of my better songs, not insulting the song or decision. But if I were in this band, the album would be called "In Winter", this is easily my favorite song on the album and I suggest that anyone reading this review to listen at that song, it is mindblowing.

Kittie returns from their debut album much, much angrier than before. In fact, despite the first album’s aggressive tone, the band spews venom over the tracks with a brutal passion on this one. That does not always translate into great songs, as the disc opener, “Oracle,” proves with its repetitive pounding that definitely sounds angry, but sounds pointlessly angry. But it can work in their favor on tracks too, like the Pantera-esque “Severed,” which bubbles over with rage. The alternative rock of “In Winter” changes the pace a little with its smooth vocals and slow riffing, as does the piano metal dirge “Safe.” Their cover of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell” takes the driving urgency of the original and turns it into a Metallica-style riff-fest, which comes off as interesting without ever truly getting engaging. The band is definitely heavy and their style of clear vocals over chugging death metal is certainly interesting. But one cannot help but feel mildly disappointed by their sophomore effort. While there are some good songs here, the band still needs to take the next step before they truly start writing great albums. As it is, this is an average album by a promising band who needs to find a distinct identity. – Bradley Torreano
