Excellent and rare collection of Yemeni music
This collection of songs is an excellent introduction to the diverse styles of Yemeni music.The music starts on track 2, with Sanani style.The lyrics as in most Yemeni songs are beautiful poems about love and life, some of these poems date back many generations. Tracks 2-6, 13 and 14 showcases the different styles of Sanani music and includes choir music. On tracks number 7 and 8 you get to listen to music from the eastern part of Yemen, Sey'un. Also known as “Hadhrami” music, this type of music uses "dan", that is a beautiful and melodic type of singing. The album goes on to music from "Lahij", spelled incorrectly as "Labej" on the album. This music from the south of Yemen has a faster tempo, and is very joyful. Overall this is a great album if not the best, to introduce you to Yemeni music. It’s very rare to find Yemeni music online so grab the chance and listen to this album.
