I'm glad that e-music is offering STS9...that part is great...what I don't like is that this album is 8 tracks and you are charging me 12 credits to download. What's up with that? Give me the 8 credit value.

This is the one that hooked me!

First, let me say I am biased... STS9 is my favorite band! That said, this is the album that really hooked me & made me the rabid fan I am today! At least half of these songs are staples at every live show... they are just that good!! And if you can catch them live, do it!! That is where these amazing musicians really shine!!

Like the Disco Biscuits’ Uncivilized Area, also released in 1998, Interplanetary Escape Vehicle — Sound Tribe Sector 9′s debut release — captures the band on the cusp of a progression from its more innocuous jam band roots to an electronic-influenced sound. The feel of the all-instrumental disc is bright and upbeat, generally relying on straightforward funk and jazz rhythms to create a base for improvisation. The disc’s opening sequence of “Moon Socket” into “Hubble,” along with the closing “Evasive Maneuvers,” provides a glimpse into what the band has since evolved into. – Jesse Jarnow
