These recordings may only be digital renditions of some of Alkan's less performed works, but they are VERY enjoyable, especially the "op. 17 Le Preux Concert Etude" and the Op.16 "Tre Scherzi Prestissimo." These two pieces may be impossible to play at the tempos in which they are set at in the recordings. You have to love those insane alternating heavy chords in "Le Preux" and those unreal speedy runs in the Trio part of "Tre Scherzi: Prestissimo." I promise you, if you love insane stuff, you'll love it, with addition of the rest of the album!

Too good to be true?

Music Lover

You have to admire pianists that tackle such difficult work, but does something not sound right on the samples? Well, this music is played on a player piano from a computer source. I have not yet downloaded as such intepretations usually don't have enough fire for me, but if you do download consider you are getting pieces that are rarely played -- and in this case are played at the tempos as notated by Alkan. Will probably revisit.
