Wonderful music for relaxation; I also love to listen to it while I work.

Listen Closely, or Not...You'll Like It

DrTechnical

I was introduced to Jonn Serrie's music when I heard it at the St. Louis science center planetarium, as a backdrop to a presentation. It made such an impression on me that I purchased a CD in the center's store, and then went on to purchase many others from this period in Serrie's career. This album, originally released by Miramar Records is very listenable. There are tracks with clearly defined melodies, and others with one of the most pleasing ethereal qualities that makes them very nice for background music. I've used this album both ways...really listened to it, and used it as a delightful background when I couldn't listen. Either way, this is some of the most engaging music of this genre you will find.

Jonn Serrie is at his best when he composes and performs deep space music as opposed to contemporary instrumental new age. And the Stars Go With You is one of his gems. From the cover artwork on through the languid minimalism, this is special music. The timbres and textures are surreal and the atmospheres are sci-fi and warm. They invite listeners to go on a ride to the stars. Once out there in deep space, Serrie hooks into the stars and the stars are on the ride too. This is essential space music. It will appeal to fans of Stephanie Sante, Don Slepian, Constance Demby, and Michael Stearns. – Jim Brenholts
