No new ground is really trodden here, but innovation isn’t exactly what Jasper seems to be striving for. With From My Perspective, he’s created a soundtrack for cultivating low-key moments using shades of quiet storm and R&B as his paint and the bedroom as his canvas. There are influences of D’Angelo (“Walk Away,” “Nobody Else”), R. Kelly (“The Way II”), and his parents’ Philly soul records running away with great abandon throughout the lengthy hour-plus excursion. But instead of being a subtle nuance in the corner, these influences overpower From My Perspective. Not exactly stellar work, but far from being horrendous, either. – Rob Theakston
