An Album Remembered

jazzrulz

In the 60's - I don't remember much about the time, but I remember this - as a college radio DJ this was an album that was a mainstay. I've looked for a reasonably priced copy for years ... finding it in emusic was terrific. Fire up the lava lamps and incense ... anybody got a match?

The birth of New Age

gregrh

This is one beautiful album. Well worth the download, long out of print. I believe the last time I checked, this album was $60.00 on ebay. Paul brought his flute and tape recorder to the Taj Mahal and played with the natural echoes and the evening chants. Perfect!!!

NOT 'new age' ...

But pure music; the way Paul Horn plays with the echoes and, more importantly the harmonics of the Taj Mahal perfectly illustrate the deep tonal structures of any music. Magic.

They Say All Media Guide

In 2001, 32 years after their original release, Transparent Music requested and received permission to combine two of Paul Horn’s greatest CDs into one CD. Inside the Taj Mahal I & II is, just as the title states, two masterpieces in one CD. It is one of the most dynamic two-fers ever. These albums have lost nothing over the years — they still sound as radical and cutting-edge as ever. They are as gentle and serene as ever, too. While electronics, synths, processors, and dozens of other gadgets have made e-music and minimalism the great styles that they are, these albums remind listeners that simplicity is the teacher of complexity. This CD is in a league of its own — still. That statement speaks for itself. – Jim Brenholts
