Spring is Here!
Stan G's playing on Spring is Here is way up there with his best. Gets right in your ear with sweetness but watch out when he dials it up a notch on the way out then brings you down easy. Unbelievable!

The samples up here all sound bad: The sax is in the center, but the WHOLE band is all on the left side. And if I listen off the headphones, it almost sounds like there's some strange phasey stuff going on. They sound like a bad transfer.
This fine album shows how Getz continued to push and stretch throughout his career. Backed by an all-star contemporary rhythm section of Richie Bierach, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette, this is a great example of early-80s mainstream jazz and stands will all but the very best of Getz' work.
The man is in Anniversary or Serenity form on this. The live reccording does not spoil the enjoyment. The support could be stronger but Stan makes that not matter.
