Charming (part 2)

As I said about the first disk in this two-disk set: I love listening to John Cage read tiny stories while David Tudor makes the noises. It's charming - something I thought I'd never say of a John Cage album. I've owned the Smithsonian Folkways CDs for about a decade now and I'm very pleased to see these on eMusic.

This two-CD set reissues the legendary early-’60s discs in which Cage relates enlightening and entertaining stories from his life, from ancient texts, from secondhand sources, and from spontaneous insight, while pieces composed using indeterminate procedures are performed on piano and live electronics by David Tudor. Essential for an understanding of Cage at the root level. (It’s OK that the voice is obscured at times.) – “Blue” Gene Tyranny
