A classic

One of my favorites by Gil. I saw him perform in Denver this May, where he played Winter in America when the meaning pointed to the debacle left by the Bush administration. A timeless classic...

Exactly like the Original

Microbe

Speaking of samples, this album was recorded prior to sampling technology. No samples used, only living performers, organic performances. Yes, this is the original, a word very befitting Gil Scott Heron. A great offering from emusic, thanks for including some tasty GSH.

Much Like The Original

Dotti

The samples sound just like I remember the originals sounding. If you like Gil Scott-Heron, you will like many cuts on this album.

This follow-up to the righteous and soulful Winter In America LP continues with the solid, decidedly left-of-center jazz-R&B that made him a cult figure throughout the ’70s. This output, with the opening meditation of “Offering” and the right-on “Ain’t No Such Thing as Superman,” solidifies Heron’s place in the pantheon of jazz poets. Dig the recited (possibly improvised) live take of “Pardon Our Analysis,” a follow-up to his seminal “H2O Blues.” And this reissue features four unreleased tracks, including a live medley of “The Bottle/Guan Guanco.” – Tim Sheridan
