2 or Three? The two albums are almost completely indistinguishable — baroque, plodding arrangements (not a criticism) in some decrepit minor key, vocals like howls and pianos pounding, pounding, pounding. In the end, 2 got a slight edge solely for "It's a Crime I Never Told You About the Diamonds in Your Eyes," undoubtedly the jauntiest song this San Diego group ever wrote (when singer Pall Jenkins belts, "And maayyyyybeeeee!" you're so with him). In the record's darker recesses, Theremins lurk and saws vibrate and mourn, setting a mood not unlike a horror flick on the cheap but infinitely better.
