American Brahms

MarionberryCary

Lush strings, romantic melodies, impeccable playing. What's not to like? Foote, a little known American composer, sounds a little like Brahms (same period). But he never gets heavy like Brahms can be, and never gets into that "I'm a serious German composer" sound that can make other music of this era tedious. But it isn't lightweight fluff either. Enjoy!

Classics Today 10/10

Kez

I'm a baroque girl by heart. I don't venture out from it much to explore many 20th century classical music, or even romantic period pieces. But this recording lures me out of the 17th and 18th centuries quite easily. It's a real treat. Read Classics Today review here
