Somber but uplifting
I was thrilled to find after many years, John Rutter's "Pieu Jesu" from his Requiem. It has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever penned in the later part of the 20th century. If you like this piece, you will love his whole Requiem (now available as a new addition to emusic.) The other standout track is the Mozart "Lacrimosa" which transports one right up to heaven! Honorable mention for another of my favorites, the Barber "Adagio for Strings". So melancholy, yet so beautiful--overall how I would describe this entire album!
