brilliant brilliant brilliant

subtle, dark and extremely understated, brilliant guitar work, like some forgotten filligree. it's amazing that this outfit went nowhere in all senses (Lawrence's subsequent projects show very little of the inspiration he had in the '80s). the music Felt made will last forever since it is antipop, music for music's sake. enjoy!

I don't get it

LeroyJenkins

It sounds like Lou Reed started making elevator music.

what else?

This was my introduction to Felt in college and a great first place to start (the first half, representing the "Strange Idol Patterns" album). But what I really want eMusic to add are the next album, "The Splendour of Fear," and two fantastic songs that never appeared on album, "Ballad of the Band" / "I Didn't Mean to Hurt You" 7."

Not the first Felt album

Felt's first album was Crumbling the Antiseptic Beauty (Cherry Red, 1981). Tracks from it are on the other comp listed on Emusic. The Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories came out on Cherry Red in 1984 and Ignite the Seven Cannons on Cherry Red in 1985

This is actually the two-fer of "Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories" and "Ignite the Seven Cannons". My favorite and first Felt album. It is so great these once out of print albums are now on emusic and extremely easy to find and purchase.
