Some great music from one of the best

Dan

Simply put, Carey Bell is one of the most original and best blues players to ever blow a harp. For the most part, the songs are little known but, don't let that put you off, the playing and singing by Carey Bell and his smoking band is as good as it gets.

Good stuff

FLBluesFan

This is very good straightforward stuff from Carey Bell. Every cut is sold, but there is also no real standout either. Bell's harp playing has it's usual fat, meaty sound. If you're a fan of harmonica blues, this is another good one.

Legendary producer Ralph Bass supervised this quickie session back in 1977, but it failed to see the light of day domestically until Delmark rescued it from oblivion. They did the blues world a favor: it’s a worthwhile session, Bell storming through a mostly original setlist (the omnipresent Little Walter cover this time is “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”). Aron Burton and Sam Lay comprise the rhythm section, and son Lurrie contributes lead guitar. – Bill Dahl
