It sounds like this recording includes only the piano track from a multi-track studio recording. You can hear faint vocals and horns in the background. This is a great record if you are interested in studying Fess's piano work -- solos and comping -- in isolation. He is in very fine form here on both the solos and accompaniments. And the interviews are very good.

Yes beware this album does not contain any of the Professor's fine singing ... But what you do have here Is The Professor talking about each song and giving a wonderful piano solo performance on each peace...I really enjoyed The Professor's New Orleans Blues lesson on this recording...Highly Recommended
