Why not get the real B&W Night

Philly-Bill

emusic has the Black and White Night recording, just click on the Roy Orbison link and find it among the live recordings. 17 tracks for 12 credits. The track are longer in some instances, so I don't know if they're the same. But that version has the 6-minute plus "Pretty Woman" where Roy and Bruce were trading links. Love to see the video of that performance when it's on PBS, usually at fund-raising time. Love how Bruce has the full SE Grin, like he's thinking, "I can't believe I'm here jamming with Roy Orbison."

Orbison sounds great here

nonshushinglibrarian

Though these are re-recordings, Roy Orbison still sounds great. Since no liner notes are provided, it is hard to know whether something is re-recorded unless you listen to the clips. In general, The Orchard is a label that releases a lot of re-recorded music. As an update to an earlier post: The Traveling Wilburys albums are available at eMusic now.

hey - listen to the you tube video

Baboom

click and watch the you tube video below of " In Dreams" and then listen to the sample then you decide - but for my money this is the " Black and White" sound track and to me it is some of the best produced (as controlled by Roy himself according to In dreams - which I have) with and incomparble cast of " Back - up" musicans (watch the video to see 2 of the 10 big names). Definitely worth it to me

THIS IS REAL!!!

EMUSIC-01CE2F07

All of these tracks ARE sung by Roy Orbison. The majority of them are taken from the recording of "A Black and White Night Live" which was done late in his career. "Go, Go, Go" is the original Sun Studios track. These aren't the original recordings from the 50's and 60's but they ARE by Orbison himself and these modern versions are quite beautiful.

all of the titles

compcommsys

Whoever the bohunk is that cut and mixed this stuff has Roy's voice so far up out of the tracks that I can't hear the rest of the music. Drum tracks are unbalanced. Also he/she needs to get some correct studio monitors, room equalizers and an acoustician to tune the room. From a professional point of view, this junk sucks. Sorry but I am a purist. I'd rather have no music than have junk music. PLEASE FLAG ALL OF THIS REMAKE JUNK OR REMOVE IT!!!!!

It has been extremely dissapointing that the songs are all remakes. I am tired of searching for the originals.

If I find the full free

40 downloads, I am dumping this site. It's ridiculous that you can't find original versions. I have been looking for over an hour and only found 3 that I like (or tolerate).

$#&% REMAKES!!!!

darizona

CAVEAT EMPTOR: Don't get fooled like I did and end up blindly downloading a remake without vetting it first. If it's not the real McCoy, it just ain't worth it. Reminds me of all those dreadful Roger Miller rerecordings that plague his catalogue. These sound better than those, but not by much. There's a production quality about the '60s that just can't be captured two decades later. Emusic really ought to flag these abominations more prominently.

My Dozen

By Bob Boilen, eMusic Contributor

In music, it's a sense of adventure I love the most. I like to put on a record and not quite know what's happening next. The first thing that happens when I get a new record and I put on the first cut, if there's too much predictability -- particularly in the lyrics -- than I often don't go to the second cut. It has to be something that, if it doesn't completely surprise me,… more »

True Heroes of Texas Music

By Michael Corcoran, eMusic Contributor

Bragging is to Texas what potatoes are to Idaho, but then so is music. When Texans tell you that it don't no get better'n Waylon Jennings, T-Bone Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Janis Joplin, George Jones and the Bobby Fuller Four, you can't really debate it, unlike their claims of prettiest strippers and tastiest barbecue. The Texas myth — a land of opportunity within the Land of Opportunity — is realized in a Lone Star sound… more »
