In the middle of winter, with this record on in the headphones, I walked around my parents' banal 1970s suburban cul-de-sac development. The music transformed the walk into a slowly unfolding filmic adventure where even the blank grey sky took on poetic significance.
I'm in awe of how Sakamoto moves so effortlessly between genres and makes each his own. IMHO, 'Insen' is worth the listen for the track 'Berlin' alone, but doubtless you'll find the whole recording more than worthwhile.
This is great, I can work to it, drive to it, read to it or just listen to it and do nothing but listen. It's gorgeou and beutiful music.
This is something new and different. For anyone who likes meditation or thinks they might, this is a perfect album. I can't describe how beautiful an experience hearing this album can be. Its not something I can listen to every day but from time to time my mind just craves the experience. Alvo Noto is the Debussy of the 21st century.
Far away from pop or rock, as eMusic catalogs it, Insen is a perfect collaboration between these masters; a beautiful meditation on tones, clusters, clicks and pops, acompanied by Sakamoto's beautiful piano chords. A perfect suite of colour, sound design and uncut clicks.
