Outstanding, Moving Electronica
I am delighted to see this on here. It's the most amazing and moving piece of electronica, fusing the Russian state orchestra with breaks and beats (yes, really!) Buy it!

Just get both discs. Amazing composition, melody, electronic sounds, beats. I absolutely love this album.
Holy Moly Guacamoly!!!!! This Rocks. Second time around!!!!!!!!
This album is still Hybrid's defining moment. Full orchestration with the rather timeless electronic breaks and tech/progressive sounds. Epic and moving...
This was a foray into Hybrid after discovering an orchestral version of Finished Symphony languishing in my CD collection, & what a scorcher it is. Orchestral version is well worth getting a hold of, by the way. Superb Sunday afternoon listening. Julee Cruise was a revelation on If I Survive - my favourite track at hi vol, neighbours not so keen but what can you do? ;)
This album is a work of genius. Mixes powerful, emotive orchestral strings with dirty bass and some awesome 303 style noises. No other album I own sounds as perfect as this. To be honest I wouldn't bother with other Hybrid albums - they seemed to get lots of guest vocalists in on later albums and lost their originality. My favorite disc is disc 2 but you'd be mad not to get both!!!
I love this disc and their other disc, Morning Sci-Fi. My e-music subscription was worth it just for those discs alone. The second disc in this set, however, should be skipped unless you either really love live recordings or absolutely have to have everything Hybrid releases. To me, the audio sounds like they just set up a mic at one of their shows. The music doesn't sound as clear as on disc one, and I really couldn't stand all the crowd noises and screaming throughout the track.
This disc really grew on me, and now it's one of my favorites. There are a few tracks that aren't quite up to par, but the ones that are good are fabulous. "If I Survive," "Snyper," and "Theme from Wide Angle" are all excellent, and the live tracks "Burnin'" and "Accelerator" give you the feel of a techno club. The beats here are complex and intertwined, and these guys really use the strings and pads to build tension perfectly. Smart electronica.
I can't list the number of friends who now own this album because I've played it to them. It's too long. It's one of those albums like the Portishead album, you won't get it until you've actually heard it. I really recommend getting 'if I survive'. If that gets you, then download the whole album. For me personally, it spent a solid 12 months on the turntable and still sends shivers down my spine. Well worth it
Absolutely love this album. Been a fan since their debut, and haven't looked back since. If you like any of the songs from this album at all, try to find some of their remixes. Examples include: Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morrisette, even Moby. Well worth spending the time looking for them.
