Rockin Spiritual Choir
The New Sufi Choir was a direct result of the teachings of Murshid Samuel Lewis in San Francisco in the late 60's. His ecletic blend of Zen, Sufism, and sacred dance entraced the hippies of the day with a powerful alternative to psychedelics. Among his students was muscial prodigy W.A. Mathieu (Windam Hill). Mathieu got his Sufi friends together to create some stunning harmonies using sacred phrases from many spiritual traditions. This disc captures that time and their work beautifully.
