Here's to reinvention (?)
For the curious.... this is the band that, presumably, changed their name to "The Broken West" and signed with Merge Records and released a full-length cd called "I Can't Go On, I'll Go On", which features the best song from this disc, "Down in the Valley". This is that indie pop-rock stuff that lives or dies by the hooky melodies and interesting production, that casts its net between the docks of Pavement and Pet Sounds. Only "Down in the Valley" really stays with you for long, which is probably why it's the only song that made the cut on the new album....
