Early Ted kicks

eMUSIC-FAN

I don't get the fools who complain about emusic selection. Yes, this isn't Cat Scratch Fever, it is non-commercial early Ted. My brother and I rocked to this stuff as much to this 'back in the day' as we did to the Scratch days. As I tell my pre-teen kids, just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad. I've had an emusic subscription since 1999. Never once have I not found at least four albums to buy and I've got 70 saved for later. Please take your big-label interests elsewhere. LONG LIVE THE INDIES.

GREAT STUFF!!

LaughingCatFarm

I was so happy to find Ted Nugen't old and best music on EMusic. If you want current radio crap, look elsewhere, but if you want music that is usually much better, look here!

Pre-Nuge

ArthurC

If this was put out by anyone but the Nuge you'd think this was a solid, enjoyable album. Not incredible, but good. It's Nuge's guitar with a touch of southern rock and a hint of rock-a-billy. Not what we expect from the Nuge, but good nonetheless.

nugent fans

redwngs

If you like Uncle Teds music after he changed his style this is not for you. If you are a true Ted fan from his early beginnings this album is one of his better ones.

They Say All Media Guide

The marketing, the label, and the instrumentation all say “bluegrass,” but everything else about this very impressive debut album says “straight-up country.” It’s actually a masterful marketing move — bluegrass fans who sniff that country music has been too commercial since about 1950 can let themselves be lulled into complacency by the banjo and Dobro, at which point Alecia Nugent’s sweet, powerful voice will do the rest. And most country fans like bluegrass anyway, so this will sound just like an exceptionally rootsy country album to them. The bluegrass snobs may find themselves startled by the Carl Jackson duet (a fine weeper called “For Love’s Sake”) or the vintage R&B cover tune (an even finer rendition of “But I Do”), but the sturdy mountain soul of “Think of What You’ve Done” and “Blame It on the Train” will ease their worried minds. If you love Alison Krauss’ voice but think she’s gone maybe a bit soft in recent years, or if you miss the rich, brassy sound of some of the great female country singers of the 1940s and 1950s, then Alecia Nugent may be just who you’ve been waiting for. – Rick Anderson
