Powerful, Inspiring, and Moving

cbeck83

Personally, I care nothing about the intricacies and highly debated fine points of a performance, as a rule. I am interested in the music itself. And the music here is quite top-notch (and FWIW, I think the performance is as well). Nothing captures the true essence of a great movie better than the great music that supported it. And this music truly does capture the power, the majesty, the emotion, the passion, and the pure intensity of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. If I have one complaint--a mild one--it would be that there is, at times, a little too much repetition of musical ideas, so that after awhile, it wears just a wee bit thin. But overall, this is great music, a very fine recording, and highly recommended.

One of a Kind

Knoxman

Amazingly, the movies were all shot at the same time on location though released at different stages, the music remains one of the most haunting and touching which compliments the films without a cliche. Most impressed and enjoying flux of beautiful soundtrack music.

I enjoyed this version.

Swan1019

I thought they did a terrific job. I prefer the vocal of this album's "Into the West" over the Annie Lennox version. I'm a fan of Annie Lennox, but her voice makes me want to dance or be full of angst, not be touched. This album's singer did a beautiful job of caressing each words. Her singing fills me with sadness and longing. I'm also an Enya fan. I prefer the Enya version over the chorale version of this album. I also purchased the Hayley Westenra version from iTunes, which is a beautiful version, comparable to Enya.

Blargh!

AtticAttack

You have to forgive me but I bought the original cds and dvds and while the orchestrated samples may get away with it, the vocal performances can't. After you listen to the original versions by Enya, Emiliana Torrini (hope to have written that name right!) and Annie Lennox, you'll find it very difficult to listen to the versions presented here.

It's a good thing too

Redone

It's a good thing that this is not the original music from the movie - a different presentation brings out different aspects. I, for one, love it that in this version in some cases (such as Bridge of Khazad-Dum) the lyrics stand out much more clearly than in the movie where they were mostly drowned by the rest of the massive wall of music.

Not the Original, but good

BigMac

While these aren't by the original orchestra, or singers, this is the original score from Peter Jackson's movies. This orchesta lacks the crispness of the original performances, but it is still good. The vocals are also good. Again, not the original artists, but they are good. If you don't mind that this isn't done by the original artists, you'll enjoy it.
