I got this ages ago when the album was free here, but I've only just got around to listening to it today. Ok, there's not a whole lot that's special about this album. The musicians are competent, the riffs are moderately rocking, but I find myself quite liking it. I may get bored of it after a few more listens, but for now it's quite fun! The cover of Take On Me is an interesting interpretation - not quite as cool as Reel Big Fish's ska cover though! Eastern European Girls is a fun song too. If you like guitar-based power pop, there are probably worse ways to spend 10 credits - and two of the songs are even free at the moment!
This album suffers from a certain sameness between tracks, and makes you wonder where they picked up a few too-familiar riffs... The prime demographic for this kind of sound probably isn't old enough to have a credit card or an eMusic account. That said, I could see "Want You Now" doing well as a mainstream single. Start with that track to avoid getting lost amongst the filler tracks. "Let Me In" would be half-decent if only the front man weren't flatting. I'm keeping "Eastern European Girls" for humor value. And the "Take On Me" cover, since it's one of my all-time favorite songs, and the modernization didn't quite butcher it.
Accomplished 90's adult alternative sound. A tad derivative, I'll watch for their next release with interest
Decent but boring guitar pop. Sounds like Lifehouse if Lifehouse took EVEN MORE Prozac.
Track #9 is a nice contemporary cover of A-HA's "Take On Me" with an Alternative guitar-vibe flavor. Worth downloading - especially since it's currently available for FREE! Get on it.
