A Classic By A Master

Ghostbear

This is arguably Steve's masterpiece. When introducing someone to the wonders of electronic/ambient music I'll frequently start here. Although there are numerous works in his enormous catalog that are its equal, this is some of his most approachable music for the novice or by the person who thinks of electronic music as all honks and beeps. Wonderously evocative, this is a masterwork that continues to reveal new layers after years of listening to it.

Classic and still Great!

While I have tired of most of Roach's albums, Dream Time Returns still stands strong. Great unity in it's compositions, yet not repetitious. It really does invoke the spirit of the Outback and of the Dream Time.

great journey

one of the better albums by perhaps the master of the genre; I like how the initial tracks are more uptempo before we head into the 'dreamtime'

Cet enregistrement constitue LE grand classique de Steve Roach. Excellente musique électronique ambient et tribale. Indispensable.

Roach’s sojourn into the mythological mind of the Australian aborigines demonstrates that electronic music’s greatest potential may lie in bringing our most elusive dreams and ancient memories into focus through potent, highly imaginative soundscapes. Altered chords that breathe ever so slowly, floating textures, digitally sampled aboriginal instruments, primitive trance rhythms, and arresting abstract sounds lead you through an unfolding maze of sonic dimensions that depict a sense of mystery and confrontation with the unknown. The double CD has 38 minutes of music not in the cassette version. – Linda Kohanov
