Surf's Up!
I won't profess to be some music know-all... hell I'm barely a music know-some. What I know is what I like. I like this album. It has a simple groove, but it's a good one. This Russian-Gone-American focuses primarily on the stylings of surf rock made famous by the likes of Dick Dale. They also mix in generic 50's rock and roll music, which somehow has a more modern feel to it. Songs about love, drinking, partying, and even a couple of classic folk pieces [hungarian dance #3 and Ukranian Dance #13] really sort of round out this album's repoitore, while still feeling like they belong together. The Russian accents are noticable in the vocals, but actually feed the originality and unique flavor of the Red Elvises. If you've got a nack for unique, or just a good time, check out a couple of tracks. If you twisted my arm and forced me to buy just one, I'd say "I Wanna Rock 'N' Roll All Night."
