love the sounds!!

i can't believe how good this album sounds. i wonder if it was remastered? anyway... i was expecting to hear a Lo-Fi-ish type thing (which would still sit quite well with me), but the sounds are clear and very thick. Yeah... wonderful pallet of sounds on this record. sorry i have to respond to the "horribly dated" comment. dude... lots (of course not all) of those sounds are coming back especially in the minimal wave scene. Lots of those synths and drum machines they used were sick. They have way more meat to them than today's stuff.

Groundbreaking

Architeuthis

You could certainly call C&C a Music Factory (har har har), but their mid to late 80s work sounds horribly dated. Trance, however, is still incredibly fresh and light years ahead of its time. Alongside Heartbeat, this album stands as a true record of pioneering electronica.

The connection in the title to medieval chant lends meaning to the differences on Chris and Cosey’s second album; here, these dire synth-pop tracks are extended somewhat into unconventional (for rock) territory that explores the modern-day equivalents of non-Western notions of trance music. It is an interesting concept, although the tracks don’t always hold up in a purely entertainment sense. – Keith Farley
