My favorite EMusic discovery. Period.

IAmEricAnArtist

I truly love this album. Every song has such a warm feeling. The songs are such complete packages and cover all bases - the lyrics, delivery, music, phrasing, etc. are just spot on! I would call them more of a cross between The National (musicality and voice), The Hold Steady (attitude and feeling), and Art Brut (dead pan delivery and sense of humor). I think my favorites are "There's a Body in a Car Somewhere" and "We should never have Children" - although it was kinda hard to actually pick a top two! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Brilliant and hilarious

arjay

Hope this band puts out some new material -- Schmotime is brilliant. "We should never have children" and "Try sober" are laugh-out-loud hilarious without being novelty songs. Entire album is worth downloading...

Love It

This is one of those obscure bands that should hit the big time. Hope they come out with another one as great as Schmotime. It took me a couple of listens to hear how funny the lyrics are. Wish I knew something about the band.

Excellent!!! Think Crash Test Dummies meets the Pogues meets Frank Black ... or something like that;) Might as well hit "Download ALL" 'cos there's not a bad track in the bunch!

Pure Genius!!

Haven't stopped listening to this one since I got it. Absolutely brilliant - The whole album rocks, but my personal favourites are 'We should never have children' and 'Weasel'. Can't say enough good things about this album - Pure genius.

I am amazed that this album has not appeared on many "best of" lists so far. Without a doubt one of THE best releases of 2006.

"KITCHEN SINK INDIE"

husky tales of heartbreak - largely influenced by both pop music and... the rakes!
