Nice concept...

but it get's a bit irritating in the end. You get the idea that someone plays some games on his C64 and recorded the soundtracks. If you like the sound of the SID chip try Juno 6's "Me My SID and I"; freedownloadble from the web somewhere.

They Say All Media Guide

One of the more unique offerings from Tigerbeat6 — which is saying something, considering its roster of quirky and experimental electronic artists — C64: Massive Sidplay Party Mix is more than an hour’s worth of music composed entirely on the Commodore 64′s SID (Sound Interface Device) chip and mixed by DJ Brotha P Touch and Lesser. The chip’s early-’80s technology, which includes three tone oscillators and rudimentary sampling capabilities, gives the album an 8-bit charm that’s deceptively simple, spanning pixilated covers of 1980s and ’90s pop, as well as original electro, drum ‘n’ bass, gabber and electro-pop. At once limited and widely expressive, C64: Massive Sidplay Party Mix is witty fun and equally at home at a LAN party or on the dancefloor. – Heather Phares
