Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, Musica Su Schemi
2006 | Label: Ampersand / IODA

Game-planned improvisations by six composers — including soundtrack god Ennio Morricone and Italian Instabile Orchestra trombonist Giancarlo Schiaffini — bring warmth and flexibility to mid-century serialists 'barren soundscapes on this 1976 rarity.

Well I Think This Missed

jazzmine

I love AMM, but I don't care for this either. I think the success of the personal on this has led many in retrospect to praise this far beyond its quality, and its history has become more mythical than fact. I can assure you that this has rarely if ever benn cited by creative musicians as an important or influential record in the avant-garde nor even the Italian avant-garde, which I am well-versed in for whatever that is worth. In fact, I find much of this as silly, and a far stretch to compare this to even early AMM in terms of quality.

Very Important

I'm sorry, I don't like to do things like this, but you must ignore the previous review posted here. Unless, of course, you are looking for Morricone's Western scores. This electro-acoustic improv group sounds like a more colorful version of AMM. If you are a fan of experimental improv music the work of Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza is fundamentally important.

I didn't like it much, but hey it's only four tracks. It's not anything like Morricone's western scores.
