Stripped down versions

DubDance

Taking out the bulk of the vocals on this album takes it nearer the Basic Channel sound to my ears. I like both BC and R&S stuff, so it's all good to me, you can get to concentrate more on the basis of the sound here though, a good alternative release to the vocal one, which ain't bad either..

On The Versions, the second disc in a two-disc series compiling the next eight releases on their highly acclaimed Burial Mix imprint, the mighty Rhythm & Sound return with a maelstrom of subbass and their minimal version of dub. These versions (instrumentals) are a perfect study into the production of the Rhythm & Sound troupe and highlight the dense atmospheric production values that have become their signature sound and textbook inspiration for most minimal techno producers. With the vocals stripped away from them, the compositions are equally as strong and stand on their own as a force to be reckoned with. It’s a perfect release to study the evolution of Rhythm & Sound’s production style from their earliest excursions to the present day. Absolutely essential for fans of dub and minimal techno. – Rob Theakston
