One of the best chillout CDs ever.

Michaelt987

This is a flawless and timeless CD. This is one of those CDs that sets the standard for a genre. Of of my all time favorite CDs and still their best to date. Their vocalist have gone on to make some great music as well ... Sia, Mozez, etc.

Lounging

The strength of Zero 7 is the depth of the music. It's great lounge/downtempo, but there are real thoughtful lyrics here as well. Perfect for light stimulation as you chill, sipping on a soy chai at the corporate coffee house of your choice.

Downtempo

Electronic music isn't my thing, but this is just a great album, electronic or otherwise. It just has a cool, laid-back style that's really easy to enjoy.

Ethereal and Exciting

I'm so glad this CD is here...the intruction to this talented group is a strong one, bring lush electronic beats to sparse but meaningful lyrics. The stronest tracks include Polaris, Give It Away and Spinning.

Excellent Enchanting Chill Music

crcaudle

This has quickly become one of my 25 favorite albums! This is the perfect album for vegging out, background chill music, or listening with intent to enjoy the amazing music & vibes Zero 7 & their guest vocalists have created. Don't believe me... download Destiny (track 3) and In the Waiting Line (track 8). Thankfully, eMusic won't penalize you when you come back to download the whole album!!

This is a great chill album. One of my favorites. Puts you right in that mellow mood yet full of interest. Try "Give it Away", "In the Waiting Line", "End Theme" and "This World".

A great album

for relaxing. While there's nothing brilliant about the album, it's just easy to listen to when you don't want to think about anything.

One of my favorite albums of all time

j.soucek

My love of this album inspired me to branch off and find all the players - Tina Dico, SIA, Sophie Barker... Everytime I listen to this album I find something else to love about it, some song that resonates -- and I've listened to it scores of times.

Forget the rampant labeling of Zero 7 as the “British Air,” because Simple Things is a debut album that stands on its own as a chilled, subtle collection of organic songs. There are hints of Air, but there are equally relevant comparisons that might be made with Morcheeba, Rae & Christian, Nightmares on Wax, and early Massive Attack. Indeed, after Morcheeba’s overproduced Fragments of Freedom and Rae & Christian’s sloppy Sleepwalking, Simple Things picks up the slack in a rewarding manner. Simple Things might just be a gentle Cinderella, a kind stepsister to Massive Attack’s dark masterpiece, Mezzanine. It’s rare that a post-trip-hop album is so interesting and engrossing, but the duo of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker mix a number of musical elements, such as soul-influenced diva vocals, gurgling and ringing keyboards, and classical string arrangements, into a relaxing, potent wave of sounds. Though the album starts to meander in its closing tracks, the first 50 minutes are cohesive, vibrant, and calming. Highlights are too numerous to call out, as the duo switches from instrumentals to songs featuring passionate, energized vocals from Mozez, Sia Furler, and Sophie Barker. All three vocalists mingle as perfect matches to the smart arrangements. Twinkling keyboards, barely-there basslines, and acoustic guitars create rolling melodies that never interfere with the task at hand, that of chiseling textured aural atmospheres. Simple Things is an accomplished slice of soulful genius that rewards frequent spins. – Tim DiGravina
