Shoulder shakin head bobbin
This stuff really grooves. Weather listening critically or just in the bkg. Makes me want to get my lounge shoes on and chill back with a Martini and a slender chic in a barely there dress. You can't go wrong if you want funk groove mux.
Soundtrack for a jewel heist
This is some seriously slick lounge / jazz / funk from the UK. These guys need to be taken seriously, as they are quite serious about what they do. Get this whole album, you'll be glad you did. It's just as fresh a year after getting it as it was on the first listen. Especially check out track 2.
Vegas Music!
Had this one and 102%, their next CD, on my mp3 player as I was walking the strip, makes the fountains at the Bellagio a LOT cooler. Massively funky, this music makes my rump shake and a stupid grin appear on my face.

Roots groove
Nice to hear someone's been listening to the real master sounds... the Meters a.k.a. the Neville Brothers and their compatriots in southern Muscle Shoals soul stew Booker T & MG's (Steve Cropper & Donald "Duck" Dunn). Check out the early Meters (Look-Ka Py Py, Rejuvination, Cabbage Alley etc etc) for the ril thanng from 'Nawlaans. This is clean tribute to source of funk roots from the 50's & 60's and still gywan strong today. If you can ever find it, check out Dave Brubeck's kid Chris & his Sky King band from 1975's "Secret Sauce"... chunky fusion/funk.
