Best Frames Album on Emusic

EMUSIC-00562A0B

This is my favorite of the Frames albums available on Emusic. Great songwriting, straightforward but heartfelt lyrics, sparkling arrangements. And the performances are powerful. I love how in the quiet parts of songs like "Seven Day Mile" Glen Hansard's voice is really present, almost in your ear. For the most part he sings without reverb, so the musicality and emotion is all his. The subtle use of violin adds the right amount of texture, and grounds the music in a way that the same sounds on a synth would not. "The Stars are Underground" really soars, and has a nice Zeppelinesque outro. The first six tunes are my favorites. An even more perfect Frames album, however, is "Burn the Maps," which unfortunately is no longer available from Emusic.

BEST???

EMUSIC-1967

I like this album but they are not the best Irish rock band. In fact I'll take Hot House Flowers over these guys. But I won't chose since I can can have them all and U2's Unforgettable Fire is their best anyway! Get the Frames album prduced by Trevor Horn with "Angel at my table".

Dance, sing, THINK and dance some more...

This is a fabulous album. I was slow to download this because some of the songs are on other albums that I own. BUT, the arrangements are different here and very thoughtful (as always for The Frames). And NEATH THE BEECHES and DANCE THE DEVIL BACK INTO HIS HOLE are the best!

The Best Irish Rock Album Ever!

KennyJ

Apologies to U2 and Thin Lizzy, the Waterboys and Van Morrison, but this album is better than The Joshua Tree, Jailbreak, This Is The Sea, and Moondance (OK, OK...maybe Moondance is better, but only by a little bit). It flies far and soars high. Structural reminiscent of The Cure's Kiss Me (x3), it bounces from driving distorted guitar emotion, to simple vulnerable acoustic guitar sweetness. Most of the clips on emusic don't represent the songs fairly. So do this: listen to the clips of "The Pavement Tune" and "Plateau". If this sounds like "your kinda music", then go ahead and buy the songs "God Bless Mom" and "Star Star" (and the other two if you liked the clips). If you're loving the songs like I do, then download the whole album..

On their 1999 album Dance The Devil, Dublin’s Frames craft more of the passionate rock that has made them popular in their homeland. Songs like “Pavement Tune” are catchy and focused, making this collection their best to date. – Heather Phares
