Not sure what the critics liked about this album (one site gave it "album of the year". The vocalist sings in this warbly falsetto that sounds like a thirteen-year-old Homer Simpson. Take the vocalist out of the picture and you're left with run-of-the-mill indie pop. Nothing to see here.
Saw these guys opening for Silversun Pickups and Viva Voce and was very impressed. They endured some technical problems and still put on a great show. Picked up the cd at the show and was not disappointed. Very unique vocals. Check out 'Driver' and 'Motorcycling', if you like those, go for the whole album.
Big, minimalistic pop songs that stick in your head. I picked it up after liking their track 'i am constellation' on the SXSW torrent. I miss the female vocals, but their production quality is much higher this time around. Think Spoon, Mates of State.
