English 80s indie cult classic
Great to see this arrive among the releases on the Haven label: the never-less-than-terrific Boo Hewerdine's first tentative step into the limelight. It's a sophisticated, highly musical little record - including one of the best singles of the 80s 'Graceland', and other great tracks in 'Mahalia', 'King Chicago', 'Kid Galahad and the Chrome Kinema' and the title cut. The second album 'Eureka' from 1988 was a more polished and accessible affair (produced by the estimable Steve Earle) - and hopefully will show up on eMu - but this was a memorable debut.
