Just fantastic acoustic guitar

kingfishertn

I won't pretend to know the intricacies of playing guitar, but I can tell you, this guy is fiercely talented, and his music is truly inspired. Highly recommended.

If you like fingerstyle guitar...

ilovekefir2

You'll like Andy McKee. This album is very good. (I'm found him on YouTube too.) :-) This isn't my favorite album with acoustic/fingerstyle guitar, but I'm glad I downloaded it.

I wish I could play this well

celticgrass

I found Andy McKee via a YouTube video, and was blown away by the different instruments he used and the sounds he could make. Track 4 is my favorite one, but track 3 is also great.

Great chops notwithstanding, I like the songs.

I was such a huge fan of Michael Hedges (always will be), and I wondered how long it would take to ever find someone playing new music that I would like as well. Some people really dig Erik Mongrain, who's a superb technician, but I'm finding that McKee's songwriting tips the scales way in his favor, as far as I'm personally concerned. Beautiful, emotional stuff. Hope to see him play in Chicago sometime.

Amazing

I didn't know who Andy McKee was the first time I happened to see him play locally. I was blown away by his amazing talent. Listening is great, but watching him play was absolutely mesmerizing. I was not surprised by the long line of people waiting for autographs after the show. If possible, don't pass up a chance to see him play live.

I happened upon Andy on YouTube as well. His music is fantastic! My 11 yo son who has very eclectic music tastes heard a song and said "I want this on my IPOD!. Try Rylynn and you will be hooked! I ended up with the whole album.

Incredible

I too found him on Youtube. I'd never seen that style of playing and was hooked! Definitely one that's a keeper!

Absolutely Amazing

Warbadger

I saw him on YouTube playing 'Drifting'. Do yourself a favor and do a search and check it out. You won't regret it. One of those gems you stumble across and wonder how you ever went so long without hearing about it. Fantastic guitarist, I wish there was more available.

wow.

Kaki King and Michael Hedges are in the same stratosphere as this lyrical, percussive guru. If you've never seen fingerstyle (fret hand hovers *over* the fingerboard instead of reaching around under it) check out this youtube video (McKee playing "Drifting" from this excellent album): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4&mode=related&search= Bears repeated listening, highly recommended.

Andy McKee is an American acoustic guitar player, known for his unusual and innovative finger-tapping style. McKee was an independent artist who released his solo instrumental records on his own, until he unexpectedly became something of an Internet phenomenon: the video of him performing his composition “Drifting” on YouTube garnered as many as 35 million listens. Art of Motion was his first album for Candyrat Records, and collected some of his older material as well as his most well-known YouTube hits such as “Drifting” and “Rylynn,” the latter of which had 17 million listens. – Sergey Mesenov
