Never again...

Lucid-Dream

...will I wander the aisles of a music store hoping to find something good! If I need the latest song that is all over the radio then I generally will not find it on etunes. However, I have found SO much stuff that I really enjoy but would not have taken a chance on otherwise. Like this album...I have really enjoyed listening to it, I listen while I program at work. Its all about matching up the right music service with what you are looking for at the time. I do agree about the karaoke...some of them are not well marked.

Top Name what?

BluegrassSailor

To the former reviewer: Emusic is about indie and the underground. All the "top-name", homogenized, goulash you call "orginal" are mere echoes of the creative sources they spring from. Emusic staples like Townes Van Zandt, Frank Black, NOFX, and the Damned have shaped the music you listen to today and bands like 16 Horsepower, Sufjan Stevens, and the Decemberists are shaping the music you'll listen to tomorrow. So run back to iTunes, run back to mommy ;)

Wadya expect?

KMartin

You know, there's a reason that emusic charges 40-cents a track (I pay ten a month for 40 downloads) when the going market rate is closer to $1.00. It's because they DON'T have top-name original stuff. Get what you pay for.

Karaoke/Tributes

adamtn1962

Agree completely. I just started using emusic and I am disappointed that it seems only Kinks and CCR are only original bands. I downloaded about 15 songs from "Karaoke" albums thinking they were compilations and they are only the background music. I doubt anyone is listening but PLEASE get some original tracks.

No tribute bands, karoke, or remakes!

jcarnes

I agree with allison_cardinals22. To darn many tribute bands, karoke, and 30 year later remakes! Emusic truely does needs more original recordings. You waste my time.

Tribute Bands?

allison_cardinals22

What's up with all of these tribute bands? I'd much rather listen to the people who sang the song in the first place. Emusic really needs more original artist. And they need to lose the karaoke too.

Pickin’ on Lynyrd Skynyrd: A Tribute is a bluegrass tribute to everyone’s favorite Southern party band, and playing bluegrass covers of Lynyrd Skynyrd tunes actually makes for a great crossover between bluegrass and rock. A few of the favorites are here — “That Smell,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Free Bird” (though “Simple Man” is sadly absent) — as well as some lesser-known cuts that make for great covers. The amazing thing is that these bluegrass musicians play Skynyrd with a subtlety that makes for a moody, sometimes dark, sometimes completely uplifting collection. A tribute like this is not for everyone, but listeners who are fans of both bluegrass and Southern rock will find themselves duly impressed. – Charles Spano
