Brilliant Racket

Wonderful life-affirming chaotic, frenetic noise. I love this band. If you get a chance to see them live, you must go, they are amazing. Also check out Polar Bear and Fulborn Teversham ~ pretty much the same line-up.

best find yet

I came to this after reading a rave review in a certain music magazine. I didn't expect it to be quite so brilliant. This is definitely my best find on e-music to date and an album I would recommend to anyone who remembers Soft Machine's Third with fondness.

Punk-jazz chaos that makes great sense

I got into Acoustic Ladyland via Seb Rochford's Polar Bear, who are basically the same group with a different leader, name and sound. Skinny Grin is pretty much their best album so far, although Last Chance Disco is very similar to this and about as good. There's lots of very exciting, frenetic sounds on this album, some vocals as well, and the album manages to evolve into different moods and modes whilst staying true to it's premise of approaching punk in a 'jazz' sort of way. Not sure whether it's a punk or jazz album in the end but that's the point, right? Either way, it's a great album with a lot of energy. Kind of like an espresso: it's got style but you drink it for the hit.
