I'm quite partial to this piece, but if there every was music that called for high-res lossless this is it. Much of the music will simply be lost in this format.

Compelling listening

Time passes, the wire hums, throbs, seems to settle into a regular pattern and then drifts out again. This is the sound of chaos, played out on a single metal wire. The result is hypnotic and strangely compelling (one Japanese dancer, Lucier recalled, slept the night underneath the wire). Perfect music for meditation, or for unwinding with a good glass of wine.

Recording of an installation made on May 10, 1979 in the Rotunda of the US Customs House, Bowling Green, New York City. The wire was extended 80 feet through the oval of the Rotunda and was driven by one pure wave oscillator. The wire played itself: all changes in volume, timbre, harmonic structure, rhythmic and cyclic patterning, and other sonic phenomena. – “Blue” Gene Tyranny
