Usually, re-recordings are crap cash-ins. In this case, Howard Jones strips away the cold 80's new wave from his early hits and injects them with warm instrumentation and delivery. It's too bad he didn't re-record the entire Dream Into Action album.
Those who liked his eighties hits will maybe like these metamorphosis of the electro-pop songs to a more physical groupy feel and somewhat more unplugged - No one is to blame, everlasting Love, pearl in the shell, what is love or new song takes here a whole different outlook, some will prefer this format some perhaps not, but the sound is there. It's a true effort to give a new reality of these good songs (far from all kind of poor remixes) for me they sound brand new but got still the strengh from their initial creation (this excits some curiosity), but who could do it better than the creator himself - directing some other talented musicians. Sorry that you could not hear Hide and Seek (One of the finest song he ever wrote), I hope this missing download will be restored soon, it deserve to be heard. And don't forget not only the music quality is important but the good lyrics messages is also necessary, so like it or not, I must admit this guy delivers some unavoidable tunes.
