not j-pop!!!
although there is very little about Piana (aka Naoko Sasaki) on the web, the beautiful, haunting (cliche I know) music she makes is as far away from J-Pop as anything. Electronica in the best sense of the word, her music surpasses Dntel or Zero Seven, rejecting both pulsing beats and self-conscious arty-ness. The almost overly cutesy vocals are tempered by her, at turns, overwhelming optimism and heartbreaking saddness. Piana is a hope for a better musical landscape in the future-
